It is a great pleasure to share, through the words of our children’s pastor, all that the Lord has done for our children and caregivers over this past year. Read and rejoice in how our Lord has poured out his blessings. This has all been possible because of your generous prayer and financial support. So as we say “Thank You” to our Lord, we also say “thank you” to you for being Jesus’ body for our children.

Similo writes to you:

It is a joy to report to you at this time of the year. Our theme has come from Isaiah 51: 1, “Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the lord: look to the Rock…”

Together with the Themba children and their families, we are relying only on Jesus and are pursuing His righteousness. Since the year started, we have seen the hand of the Lord and are excited to see what he has done and continues to do for us here at Themba.

image The number of care givers has continued to swell in our regular meetings…

“We believe Themba has been a place for them to grow in the grace of God.”
**A new caregiver gives his life to Jesus**
One of the new care givers gave his life to Jesus during our home visits recently. I clearly see that Themba is not only here to help with materiel things, but is also a tool God is using to harvest for His kingdom … My heart was filled with joy to see him worshiping the Lord. We are now discipling him and believe we have sown and the Lord of the harvest will water the seed.

**A care giver finds new life through her fellow caregivers**
Another care giver shared with us during one of our home visits that since the death of her husband, she was afraid she would also die and leave her children suffering… Also, she was crushed inside as she could not bury her husband because she had her second baby during her husband’s funeral. She started attending the prayer meetings and was encouraged to know that Christ loves her so much and died for her. She got so much support from the other care givers and is so thankful to the Lord.

Njabulo and Gracious

Njabulo and Gracious

This year we were blessed to have Njabulo and Gracious helping us in the running of our Bible clubs. Njabulo is very handy and Gracious knows how to make the children smile. What encourages us is that they are our own Themba children and are giving back to the organization.

The Bible clubs are running very well and the numbers have increased rapidly as we have close to 30 new children who joined the program. Thank you for the teaching materials you sent us. The children love the Bible games, playing and learning at the same time. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness.image

Our trade school children are doing well. One of our boys is doing a course in painting at Tshaka Vocational Training centre and his instructor is very happy about his work.

imageWe have always felt humbled to be able to visit the Themba families in their homes. It has been a time to listen to them and to minister in their lives.

We thank the Lord for His protection as we received very few cases of ill-health among the families.

** Teenager Sanele, her story **
After her mother’s death, Sanele was taken by relatives who stay in Harare. When they decided she was going to drop out of school to babysit their children, she realised her dreams of finishing school were going to be shattered and she came back to Bulawayo. They followed her and tried to take her back to Harare, but she was brave enough to refuse. Now, we encourage her as she stays alone at her grandmother’s place but goes to her aunt’s place for meals during the day, coming back during evenings. She is indeed a very brave girl who is determined to fullfil her dreams.

Pray that the Lord will keep her safe and provide for her needs and that she will have an older family member who will take good care of her.

imageThis quiz was very exciting as the children came to show what they had been taught throughout the year during the Bible clubs.

The whole competition was centered on our theme for this year and it was encouraging to see the children competing and learning at the same time.

The first round was a written exercise of questions derived from the book of Ruth, the second was 15 memory verses and the third round, an oral examination of “who’s who” in the Bible.

Our prayer is that this will be a time for the children to grow deeper in the things of the Lord.

THANK YOU! We would like to thank all the Themba sponsors and Friends for making these families’ lives a lot better. May the Lord richly bless you all.
